ABOUT SONDRA
Twenty-five years of honest work, alongside people becoming themselves.
I believe meaningful therapy begins with genuine human connection — a space where you can speak honestly, be understood, and make sense of experiences that have felt confusing, painful, or overwhelming.

MY PHILOSOPHY
Why I do this work
Over the years, I have come to believe that most people are carrying far more than others realize. There are seasons in life that quietly change us — grief, disappointment, anxiety, relationship struggles, self-doubt, and unexpected transitions can gradually reshape the way we experience ourselves, others, and the world.
I do not believe people are broken. More often, I see people who have adapted to difficult experiences, carried burdens for a long time, or lost connection with parts of themselves that once felt alive and hopeful. Broken is not who a person truly is.
Even in seasons marked by loss, uncertainty, shame, fear, or heartbreak, I have witnessed remarkable growth when people are given space to be known, understood, and supported without judgment. From that foundation, insight deepens, new possibilities emerge, and people often discover strengths they had forgotten they possessed.
It is a privilege to walk alongside people in these moments. That is the work I love most.
MY STORY
Experience shaped by presence, not formula
My understanding of these struggles does not come only from more than twenty-five years of clinical work. Like many people, I carry my own tread marks from the road behind me. I have learned that life rarely unfolds exactly as we expect, and that seasons which ask us to rethink, rebuild, grieve, grow, and trust often shape us in ways we never anticipated.
Those experiences have deepened both my compassion and my respect for the courage it takes to keep moving forward. For more than twenty-five years, I have worked with adults and adolescents through seasons of change, loss, anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, and personal growth.
What continues to matter most to me is creating a space where people feel respected, understood, and supported as they move toward meaningful change.
I believe meaningful therapy begins by meeting people where they are — emotionally, relationally, and sometimes practically. While my practice is primarily conducted through secure telehealth, I also offer limited concierge therapy when it meaningfully supports the therapeutic process.
HOW I WORK
What clients can expect
Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and easy to talk with. My style is relational, conversational, and unhurried. I do not believe therapy needs to feel formal or intimidating to be effective — meaningful change most often emerges through genuine conversation, thoughtful reflection, and a deeper understanding of what matters most.
What may look like anxiety, conflict, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion on the surface often has roots that run much deeper. My role is not simply to address symptoms, but to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help people better understand themselves and move toward lasting change.
No two people are exactly alike, and therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. My work is guided first by the person in front of me, not by a particular therapy model. I thoughtfully integrate evidence-based approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, and selected Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills — to meet each person's unique needs, strengths, experiences, and goals.
Narrative Therapy holds a special place in my work because it invites people to pause and consider the stories that have quietly shaped the way they see themselves, others, and the world. As those stories are explored with honesty and compassion, new possibilities often begin to emerge.
My hope is that clients leave sessions feeling clearer, more connected to themselves, and better equipped to move forward.
REFLECTIONS FROM A FORMER CLIENT
“I met Sondra Sabourin at a very tough time in my life. My wife of over 30 years had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer that was incurable and only had months to live. I had to always stay positive and strong for her as well as comfort her.
My insurance advocate advised me that I should find someone to talk to as an outlet to my pain and stress of being a caregiver 24/7. I was so fortunate to meet Sondra in this time of need. Within the first few sessions I started to look forward to our therapy sessions. Sondra was easy and comfortable to talk to and helped me deal with the feelings of the possibility of losing my wife.
After my wife passed, I continued to meet with Sondra, and she helped me through the grieving process and how to move forward with accepting my loss. I had never used a therapist before and was uncomfortable in the beginning, but would highly recommend Sondra to anybody struggling with an emotional time or problem.”
